“I don’t just teach a language—I guide each student along a learning path that fits who they are.”
With more than fifteen years of experience teaching Mandarin and bilingual learners, Ms. Huang has worked with children of different ages and cultural backgrounds across Taiwan and the United States.
In her classroom, learning a language is about more than vocabulary and grammar. She believes language helps children build confidence, communicate effectively, and better understand the world around them. To her, Mandarin is not simply a school subject—it is a lifelong skill that allows children to connect with people, cultures, and ideas.
For the past fifteen years, I have focused on one thing: understanding children and helping them learn in the way that works best for them.
Over the years, I have taught all kinds of students. Some learn best by listening, some through reading and observation, and others through games, movement, and interaction. Some are eager to speak from day one, while others need time, patience, and encouragement before they feel comfortable sharing their thoughts.
Teaching has taught me that no two children are the same.
A curriculum may stay the same, but children do not. Every child brings a different personality, family background, life experience, and learning style into the classroom. That’s why I always take time to get to know a child before deciding how to teach them.
Rather than focusing only on how much material we can cover, I care more about whether a child truly understands, feels comfortable speaking, and gains confidence along the way.
I don’t simply teach a language. I help children discover a learning rhythm that feels natural and meaningful to them. The most rewarding moments in my career are seeing a child who was once hesitant begin to speak with confidence, share their own stories, and take pride in what they can do.
